Alimony

Alimony is financial support paid by one spouse to the other. The purpose of alimony is to provide economic assistance to the spouse that either did not work during the marriage, or that earned less during the marriage.

There are several factors involved in determining if alimony should be paid, including but not limited to: one party’s need for financial assistance, the other party’s ability to pay alimony, the the length of the marriage, the capacity to earn income, and the education levels of the parties, etc.

In cases where a judge determines that alimony is proper, the judge will also determine the amount of the monthly payments as well as the duration of the payments.

If you are in need of financial assistance from your spouse it is important that you contact an experienced attorney at Parrish Law Group to assist you in this process.
